PRAY FOR YOUR STREET

AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW GOD’S LOVE BY PRAYING FOR OUR NEIGHBOURS

Ephesians 6:18-19 instructs us to embrace every opportunity to pray for others, and so we would love for you to get involved with our ‘Pray For Your Street’ prayer project in collaboration with Stormont and Castlereagh Presbyterian Churches.

Starting in March, we will regularly dedicate a week to praying for one specific street or area in our church’s neighbourhood. We will carry residents of that area in prayer for a week and use specially designed cards to let them know that they are in our thoughts and prayers. We hope this will make our neighbours feel loved, cared for and potentially curious about how prayer works, as we will encourage them to share any specific prayer request they might have.

The Bible teaches us that even the simplest prayer can dramatically change the course and outcome of any situation. Let’s cover our streets with prayer together!

Are you interested in getting involved?

Here are a few things you can do:

1.      Come along to a short meeting on Monday, 26th February at 7.45 pm in the Stye Brae. We will learn more about the idea behind this prayer project and discuss some practical details before we finish with a guided prayer time for our neighbourhood. (Please note: You are welcome to join the ‘Pray For Your Street’ prayer project even if you can’t attend the preparation meeting!)

2.      Mark Sunday, 10th March to Sunday, 17th March in your diary as the first week of the ‘Pray For Your Street’ project.

3.      On Saturday, 9th March, at 2 pm, we will gather for a short time of prayer and a quick recap of our plans. We will then head out and distribute the specially designed cards to each household of one particular street or area before we return to the church for a short time of closing prayer, to finish with that not later than 4 pm.

Let Stephen or Mariann know if you have any questions.
