The General Assembly will meet in Belfast from Thursday morning, 20 June, and will close on Saturday afternoon, 22 June. In recent years, it has undergone some important changes, and this year, we will see the introduction of significant further changes concerning the opening, evening celebration, installation of the Moderator and the Assembly Communion Service.

The Opening of the General Assembly

This will take place on Thursday morning at 10 am (and not Wednesday evening) when the current Moderator, Dr Mawhinney, will constitute the Assembly and give his address during a service of worship.

Evening Celebration

You are also welcome to attend the Evening Celebration, which takes place on Thursday at 7.30 pm in the Assembly Hall. The speaker will be John Risbridger, the former chair of Keswick Ministries and the current chair of the Evangelical Alliance.

Installation of the new Moderator

This will take place on Friday afternoon at 4.30 pm. The Moderator-Designate, Rev Richard Murray, of Drumreagh Presbyterian Church, will be installed as Moderator and give his address at a new service of installation with invited civic guests.
